Danske Banka to Students in Latvia
This is the tenth year in turn when talented young people have obtained a possibility to focus on their studies thanks to received scholarships of Danske Banka. The tradition is continued also in this study year and studies of thirteen young people will be supported by Danske Banka. The Bank has been purposefully rendering support to young people of Latvia, who have chosen obtaining education as their priority. Scholarships allocated by the Bank are administered by the foundation "Vitols Fund".
"Allocation of resources for education of talented young people is both a rational and emotional decision. Elsewhere in Europe provision of corporate support to education and other fields of social responsibility has long-term traditions, in Latvia these traditions are being created," stated Raivis Kakānis, Head of Danske Banka. "I am assured that this is a way for us to provide our contribution for the future of Latvia. According to our experience, young people, who qualify for scholarships, have good motivation for studies and their achievements are very high. It is a great pleasure to see that many young people, who have received scholarships and have achieved their own financial stability by now, have returned to Vitols Fund as donators and form a new link in the chain of good works."
During ten years Danske Banka has donated more than 300 000 Lats to education and has enabled more than 120 young people to obtain higher education. The future professions chosen by existing and former beneficiaries of Danske Banka’s scholarships are very different – there are future doctors, teachers, biologists, chemists and veterinarians, legal and other experts among them.
In all countries where Danske Bank Group is represented, it demonstrates active engagement in fields concerning support to children, youth and elderly people as well as strengthening of family ties.
