Changes in the rules and conditions

Changes in the Terms and Conditions in line with the Payment services law

On 1 June 2010 changes apply in several terms and conditions of Danske Banka in line with the requirements of the Payment services law, adopted to introduce Payment Services Directive in Latvia. Directive introduces new regulations on domestic and cross-border transfers in Latvian lats, euro and any other currency of European Economic Area member states (27 EU countries, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein). New regulations are applicable also on payment cards’ transactions.

The objective is to introduce uniform regulations for payments and to insure faster transfers within the European Economic Area.

Benefits for customers

Changes for customers are positive and will make usage of daily banking services easier. The most important benefits:

  • Uniform rules for payments within the European Economic Area
  • More detailed information from the bank about payments – for instance on fees, transaction time and exchange rates – this provides more transparency about payments
  • Faster transfers within the European Economic Area

With introduction of directive, changes apply on several terms and conditions of Danske Banka:

  • General transaction terms and conditions
  • Rules on the opening and servicing of a current account
  • Rules on E-bank opening and usage
  • Rules on payment cards servicing for private persons
  • Standing order rules
